On sax, Lynn Comstock, who holds a BS in Music Education with a double major in trumpet and percussion, and a BS in Primary Education, both from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton) in Wilson NC, has played trumpet for over fifty years, having begun the summer before she entered the eighth grade.
In high school she was selected to be a member of the top two all-district bands in her native state of Virginia. While in college, Lynn performed with many ensembles including the concert band, stage band, brass band, and with the college choir.
She has performed with several community bands including the Wilson Community British Brass Band. In the late 1990’s Lynn stared her own band, the Candyland Band, that was composed of her students and they received invitations to play across North Carolina and Virginia.
For over forty years, Lynn has taught private music lessons to students as young as four and as old as sixty four and has contributed to the music education of many, many young people.
Although Lynn’s primary instrument is trumpet, she is so good on many instruments she gladly stepped up to play sax for the Moonlight Swing Band because that is where she is needed.
The band is fortunate to have someone of Lynn’s talent and enthusiasm. The music the band plays is primarily from Lynn’s personal music library, and for this the band is grateful.
